As Jacksonville's premier professional dance company, Jacksonville Dance Theatre is committed to creative innovation and exchange through dance making, performance, and education. JDT is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit contemporary dance and performance company dedicated to creating and promoting excellence in the field of professional dance on local, national and international stages.
JDT was founded in 2012 by Rebecca R. Levy, Katie McCaughan and Tiffany S. Santiero, each of whom either moved to or returned home to Jacksonville after completing master’s degrees in dance/choreography from distinguished universities and performing with renowned dance companies and choreographers throughout the country.
Currently, Rebecca R. Levy is a professor of dance at Florida State College of Jacksonville; Katie McCaughan teaches and directs the dance program at Episcopal School of Jacksonville; and Tiffany S. Santiero is an adjunct professor of dance and dance film at Jacksonville University.
With an initial focus on providing a local, professional outlet to prevent “talent-flight,” as well as to attract talent from outside Jacksonville, these founders created a core company of more than a dozen professional dancers.
