2 Companies 1 Stage - JDT + PWC

  • Jacksonville University 2800 University Boulevard North Jacksonville, FL, 32211 United States (map)

Produced by Jacksonville University’s Linda Berry Stein College of Fine Arts, sponsored in part by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs, the Florida Council on Arts and Culture, and the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville, JDT + PWC will feature exciting new and repertory pieces of provocative contemporary dance, and dance-theatre works. JDT will premiere a newly commissioned work by Dance Magazine’s 25 to Watch, Pioneer Winter, Better, a piece exploring how we try to avoid unavoidable things.

JDT + PWC will highlight the range of athletic, entertaining, and eclectic works the companies are known for, including repertory pieces by JDT’s directors Rebecca R. Levy, Katie McCaughan, and Tiffany S. Santeiro. PWC will present a long-form work created in 2018, Reprise, choreographed by Pioneer Winter. Reprise uses contemporary dance and physical theater to explore marginalization, allyship, and queerness - how humans intersect.

“Forms of personal and collective power have figured prominently in his recent work (Reprise). And by extension, he has focused over and again on the dominance of authority, and the control of one body or group over another.” -Miami Herald
